Shree Dattayaag

Importance:
The three day long Dattayaag was not simply a normalyagna,
but was a very auspicious event. A total of eleven people were performing
ritual for the past three years for this yagna. Those people performed these
specific rituals in a specific duration and hence this Dattayaag was performed.
The collective representation and strength of Shri Purusharth
Kshamadan yantra (श्रीपुरुषार्थ क्षमादान यंत्र),, the unique image of Shree Dattaguru, and the Dharmasan(धर्मासन) at Shree Gurukshetram were used for the yagya. The mantras
chanted during the yagna were completely pure and Vedic and were as mentioned in
the Shreemad Purusharth Granthraj.
Practice followed in the Yagna :
First Day: The Yagna or Yajna started
at morning 8.30 am and continued till the sunset in the evening. The Yajman(यजमान) i.e. the Host who organizes
the Yajna and (ब्रम्हवृंद) Brahmavrunda means a team of
priests performing Yagna, carried out recitations and series of poojans in various forms such as Sakalshanti
path (सकलशांतिपाठ), Samagrapradhan Sankalp(समग्रप्रधानसंकल्प), Shree Brahmanaspati Poojan(श्रीब्रम्हणस्पतिपूजन), Punyavachan(पुण्याहवाचन), Sakal Matruka Poojan(सकलमातृकापूजन), Ayushya Mantra Jap(आयुष्यमंत्रजप), Nandi Shraddha(नांदीश्राद्ध), Shree Vardhini Poojan Jal yatra
and Mandap Pravesh(श्रीवर्धिनीपूजन जलयात्रा व मंडपप्रवेश), Kundasthadevta Poojan(कुंडस्थदेवता) and then the practice of
Acharyadi Hruthvikkaran (आचार्यादि ऋत्विककरण ) was being performed wherein, a
team of priests conducting Yagna and reciting mantras purify themselves and is
then said to positioned to perform it,
After that, Shree
Bramhanspatisukta's (ब्रम्हणस्पतिसूक्ता) ritual
initiated followed by Vastumandal Pujan(वास्तूमंडल पूजन), Yoginimandal Pujan(योगीनिमंडल पूजन), Kshetrapal Pujan(क्षेत्रपाल पूजन), Pradhanmandal Sthapana (प्रधानमंडल स्थापना) and Airanimanthan(ऐरणीमंथन) meaning igniting fire, by rubbing, churning two wooden
wedges or pieces against each other with chanting of sacred mantras, as per
Vedic method was carried out. .. Later, Navgrahamandal Pujan(नवग्रहमंडल पूजन), Rudramandal Sthapana(रुद्रमंडल स्थापना), consecration of the Shree Dattaguru’s idol (Pran
pratishtha), Rudra abhishek(रुद्राभिषेक), Grahayagna(ग्रहयज्ञ), Shree Dattamala mantra was
recited 54 times during Yajna, evening poojan of the consecrated God’s idols,
followed by Oblation (नैवेद्य ) and Aarti.
Second day: Time-
Even on second day, the Yagna or Yaag started at
morning 8.30 am and continued till the sunset in the evening
Yajman(The Host) and team of priests performed
the Shantipaath, Sankalp, Poojan of the consecrated Gods, Shree
Bramhanspatisukta's ritual, Abhishek of Mukhyaprana Shree Dattaguru was done by
chanting Purusha Suktam 1000 times, after that a coat of sandalwood and saffron
was applied on the idol, Pradhan Yagnaa through Purusha Suktam, performed the
preparatory rites of the Shree Dattamala mantra 54 times followed by evening poojan
of the consecrated Gods, with offering oblation and aarti.
Third day: Time- On the third day, Yagna started at morning
8.30 am and continued till the end.

Yajman(The Host) and team of priests performed
the Shantipaath, Sankalp, Poojan of the consecrated Gods and Rudrabhishek for
Mukhyaprana Shree Dattaguru, worshipping the Mukhyaprana Shree Dattaguru by
offering tulsi for 108 times while chanting the mantra “Bhoho Dattaguru",
followed by Uttarang havan, , and completing the Yajna with Purnahuti, Maha
Naivedya(Oblation), Aarti and Shreyodaan.
Falshruti or Benefits of the Yagna:
This Dattayag was being performed with completely
pure, energetic Vedic mantras. Every Shraddhavan has been benefitted by it. .
Through this Dattayaag, every Shraddhavan’s body, mind, intelligence and soul has
gained a protective shield . This shield very important and essential at collective,
social and personal level in the times to come,
Besides this, the fruit or benefit of Dattayag was the verse, 'Dhanya Dhanya Pradakshina’, an unique
Pradakshina or Parikrama i.e. Niyatichakraparivartan Pradakshina, was such a
vaccination that provided immunity to all Shraddhavans from all diseases,
ailments and disorders they have.
